Energyface.com content will be gone very soon. Mainly because Ipowerweb has the worst customer support I've ever associated with. I have this idea that the entire company is just 2 dudes in some back office sitting in front of a couple servers and a phone smoking cigarettes. I want to renew this domain name, but not if I have to do it through them. I can't even login to make any changes.

Natalie has to be the coolest girlfriend ever. She's completely satisfied with picking up a couple $2 sweaters at the thrift store. Why am I so lucky, God?

On the way back from the bank (this was last week), she wanted to stop at this thrift shop because we had a couple extra bucks on us. She went off browsing through clothes, and as I was quitely shuffling through an old pile of hardbacks I heard this guy walk in the front. He asked aloud to the whole store, "How much for that grill out front?" I heard what sounded like somebody fumbling for a mic... then a voice over the intercom, "Ya'll get around to pricing that grill yet?" A minute of silence goes by then I hear this old lady voice yell from the back, "10 dollars!"

That's a pretty damn good deal for a grill.

I thought it was funny. So when we goto check out, there was no one around. We stood around for a minute, and I rembered the mic. I looked around the counter and found it. I switched it on, cleared my throat and quietly said, "Ready to check out now." Then we saw the old lady heads poke out and waddle over to take care of us. That was fun.

Today I paid 200 bucks to get rotors and brake pads switched out on my car. Later on in the day, Keith (my parent's friend), dropped by with a $200 check for some old web work I did for his boss, Dean Pool. Ahhh, karma.

So I broke even, but THEN I went to the eye doctor to get an updated prescription (my attempt to send in an old one to 1800 Contacts failed big time). Since my insurance is no more, I had to pay $100 for them to tell me my vision hasn't changed in 5 years. One thing is cool, he gave me some new experimental lenses that are thinner and more oxygen permeable so my eyes can "breathe" and I won't get blown blood vessels over my corneas. Nice.

He was a young eye doctor. I decided if I were to ever venture into the medical field I would become an Optometrist. You play with all these cool machines everyday and look deep into people's eyes without having to really touch them. Purrrrfect.

There is some friggin craze going on around this neighborhood lately. In the past week, from children coming to the door... I've bought chocolate bars, cookie dough and nuts. The grand total being $23. It's hard for me to say no when they have a young mother standing there. Hovering... staring at you thinking, "Don't say 'no' to my child. How could you?" It's good to see they are getting their kids used to pushing overpriced sugar on people who don't need it. Gives them a good sense of capitalism.

Last night, I was up pretty late watching this show on MTV called Boiling Point. Hilarious. I friggin love it. There is something about annoying the shit out of someone until they explode that I just REALLY connect with. I just LOVE it.

The skit that made me laugh the most was this one where they set up cameras at a check out lane in a food store. The food would get rung up and sent to the bagger. He was this huge dude with glasses. Well, he would take the food and just smash it into bags... bashing and forcing it into places. Boxes opened, cans crushed. Basically, everything that got bagged, got obliverated... all while the shopper just stood there and watched. I was on the ground in tears. The point of the show is, if they can not blow up in a certain amount of time, they get $100 (which isn't really much money for most people, but nice to have).

Another funny one was when this dude would go up and stare into a window that people are sitting down to eat at on the other side. I've ALWAYS wanted to do that. Whenever I see people eating right next to a street window, I just want to tap on the glass and ogle them like they're fish in an acquarium.

I went and saw Shaun of the Dead the other night. It filled my expectations of being a goofy British horror. I give it a 8.5 outta 10. I would have watched more this weekend, but there's a story behind that.

When I was in LA, Paul & Leslie had Netflix so I ordered Pi & Drugstore Cowboy. The 2 DVDs showed up the last day I was there, so I packed them up and took them back to Florida. Honestly, I figured I'd watch em, and mail em back ASAP. No harm done. Little did I know this would send Leslie over the edge. She sent me an email with lots of exclamation points. I called her to explain and laugh it off. She wasn't laughing. I guess it takes 5 days to return those Netflix DVDs from FL, so I had to mail them back without watching them. "Fuck-a-doodle-doo."

I'm just a natural when it comes to being annoying. Maybe I can find a job that pays to have this characteristic. I have to go make loud noises and do cartwheels around the house now. BLAH!

We got in Monday morning. Apparently we brought the rain. I am just now getting used to Paul's computer otherwise I would have posted already. Pictures galore. I am listening to John Lennon's "Imagine" covered by A Perfect Circle. Paul's favorite band is Tool. They flew out last night. So the house is all mine. Los Angeles is fucking awesome. America! Fuck Yeah! Natalie just sniffed my right ear. It was not effected by the change in air pressure on the flight out. I have already adobted a new goal in my head to drive my mental energy and accomplish something substantial. We are going to eat lunch at some place called Mornings Nights. Natalie is soooo far, not close to anything resembling an Enless Need Machine.

That said, what an interesting punch-out fest they had tonight. I enjoyed it. Visually, it looked like Darth Vader without his helmet was sitting down with his son, Luke Skywalker disagreeing about the way The Force should be used.

To me, Edwards came off as a likeable lawyer-type (a little eager), and Cheney seemed rather calm and in control. I was kind of nervous though. I thought, at any moment, he was gonna reach over, grab a clump of Edwards hair, and just chop him in the throat. That would have been sweet.

Also, it was very nice of Edwards to mention how happy he is that Cheney loves his gay daughter. Such a kind man, that Edwards. Cheney seemed REEAAALLL happy about that... you could almost see in his eyes the fantasy he was having about drop kicking Edwards right through that table. Honestly though, I learned more about the issues and driving force behind both parties with these two then I did with the presidential contenders.

For instance, Edwards' wife came on stage at the end, and Oh My Companion Christ, she's friggin huge! It's probably not her fault though. God, why am I such an asshole?

I've been doing a lot of passive watching & listening lately. Movies, DVDs & music... taking in a bunch. 5 days after Ivan, I started serving & bartending back at Ruby Tuesday and that placed has been slammed every since. Many people lost a bunch and apparently have nowhere else to go at night. The money, for me, has been really good, so I'm not complaining. It will help me achieve my goals faster then I planned, but it damn sure is an exhausting way to make cash. Draining... mentally & physically.

Taking it all in has helped me wind down from work. Hopefully, when my head clears from the mush that is left of it after a week of serving, I'll be able to comment on some of the media I've been enjoying. For now, I just want blog about the debate.

If you watched it, there isn't much to say besides how tough it is gonna be for the Reps to make a positive spin of it all. It was funny watching Rudolph Giuliani go on afterwards about how this debate seemed to point in favor of Bush, Master of Question Avoidance.

During The Daily Show's coverage, Stewart usually would have an easy time making fun of both candidates, but tonight he actually seemed impressed with the directness of Kerry's answers and was quiet about him, which was cool.

Natalie believes that Bush is still going to appeal to the everyman because of his charisma, and I agree, BUT this is the first time since the race began that I think Kerry is closer to winnning.

the storm might not be as bad as everyone's predicting, but it's better to err on the side of safety when confronted by a monstrous hurricane with 125 mile an hour winds.

america is insane. when you go to europe or australia or most of asia they just can't relate to growing up in a country with huge hurricanes and tornadoes and heat waves that kill people and cold waves that kill people. maybe that's one of the reasons that americans are so crazy, we grow up assuming that it's normal for thousands of people to get killed by the weather every year.

We just got back from Exorcist: The Begininng. And, you may know this, but I'll remind you: Hollywood is out of ideas, ppl. Just when I was getting into this movie, they had to ruin it by trying to be like the first one.

What the hell is happening to movies? Every genre is tapped out. Horror, sci-fi, fantasy, comedy... the list goes on. "Let's reach back to something that was a huge financial success, and see if we can't squeeeeeeezzzee more dollars out of it." Just look at what's playing:

I think it's funny to watch the weather people get blown around all over the screen. It's always the same report too: "Yeah, it's real windy. We just saw some doors get blown open. And some trees fall over. It's just insane. I mean, I heard hundreds of children were gunned down the other day in Russia, but these Floridians are going through some MAJOR discomfort right now. good news: I just got done running 1/2 mile.
bad news: It took me 6 minutes & 14 seconds.

On this same day, last year > I ran 1 mile in 7:56. Yikes.

I'm not sure how long it's gonna take me to get back to my fastest logged mile (7.00), but it looks like I have an uphill battle ahead of me. One thing I noticed when I was running was my right butt cheek. It jiggled like a ziploc bag filled with pink jello (caused by atrophy / not using the muscle). I guess you can't tell what the color pink feels like, but I think it made a nice visual.

good news: They have this new flavor

It's about noon Eastern time, and I am brewing a cup of joe for the long road ahead of me. I hope I don't get the shakes half way through from NOT drinking alcohol.

Vegas, of course, was awesome. Much of it was captured on video / digital cams, so you'll be seeing a bunch of that in the future. I had a good time hanging out with my nerd buddy, Courtney. Dude, what was up with those iPod speakers? Natalie & Richard are a hip couple. Josh C. is in-your-face with kindness. I love the guy, but a little to touchy-feely for me. Haha. Actually, Josh & I had a pretty good conversation get caught on tape, so I hope Jonas does it some justice. Strangely, my sisters were awesome. I only freaked out on them once. Matt Davis dropped in & I got him to add something important to his todo list: Start a blog.

Ahhh, speaking of blog starters, I pushed the idea into the heads of some O'Dell sisters last night. If my plan worked, we should be hearing from Robin every Saturday. Robin looks much healthier & happier since the last time I saw her at Marigold's wedding in Norleans. And Mandy is all grown up. Wow, this girl has some great illustration skills. Truely amazing. She has a site on Xanga somewhere, but I'll check it out before I post it, and hopefully convert her to blogger.com soon.

I should leave now. Jeanette, you should try out this program called Pluck ( http://www.pluck.com/ ). It'll let you know when someone has posted a new entry to their blog so you don't have to keep checking (and seeing Steve's poo bugs).

I drove into Tampa last night. It took me 7.5 hrs. The random 20 min TORRENTIAL downpours sucked big time. Gripping the wheel, and squinting to make out some lights in front of me while keeping it at least 70mph can be somewhat stressful.

Speaking of stress, my sister just called wondering what I'm still doing at her apt. I have to go now. She can get angry. This is the email I got from her when I woke up:

"Yo Cory, What up?? I am bored at work, nothing much to do today. By the way, my stomach is so upset, I feel like puking. I think it might have been the late night meal you cooked.

Do you want to be an nice chap and bring me lunch. i woulld like a sub sandwhich, perferably from publix. The ultimate on wheat bread sounds good. Also, with that you can get all the fixings on it except peppers and onions and oil and vinegar. You are such a pal. So why don't you come on over around 11:30am, doesn't that sound tremendous. There is coffee in the cabinet and creamer in the fridge, so help yourself. Unfortunately I don't have any breakfast food, so you can buy a sub for you too and you can eat with me. It will be great fun. Do you remeber where the hospital is?

(She leaves directions here)... Come on into the lab and look for a sign that says Transfusion Services that is where I will be, it is right when you come into the lab. I will call you in a little while.

lesser known Hudson quotes

You may be familiar with the movie Aliens, and if you've seen it, then you should know that Hudson (played by Bill Paxton) is my favorite "freak-out" character of all time.

If you've ever talked with peoople about him in that movie, you've probably heard someone repeat his more popular lines. Like when their transport crashes and he says, "Game over, man. Game over!" Or when Ripley tells him that Newt survived for months without weapons, and he cries, "Whydontchujust put her in charge!?"

Tonight, I watched a bad VHS copy of the movie (only to find out AFTER it was over that TNT was playin it twice in a row starting at 7pm in what seemed like some new crystal clear vision compared to the condition of the version we saw).

Well, he says other things that make me laugh. I'm not sure what it is, but I crack up when I hear him. It's mostly because of his inflection. Mostly. So here are the lesser known Hudson quotes, but you have to try and mimick his half-whine, half-laugh voice if you read them out loud:

After Bishop gets done using his hand in The Knife Scene:
"That wasn't funny, man!"

After he realizes they are in serious trouble:
"Dear Lord Jesus, this ain't happening."

After someone says something positive to boost morale:
"Maybe you haven't been keeping up with current events, but we just got our asses kicked, man!"

After their transport crashes:
"Oh, that's just fucking great! We're in some pretty shit now!"

Someone let's it known that a rescue team won't arrive for another 17 days:
"17 days!? I don't mean to rain on your parade, but we're not gonna last 17 hours!"

They look at him when they are trying to figure out who should crawl underground to pilot the 2nd transport via remote control:
"Yeah, right! With those things running around?! You can count me out!"

When Bishop volunteers, Hudson is very enthusiastic:
"Yeah! Bishop should go! Good idea!"

After this, they pretty much get Hudson to stop being such a cry baby and he even starts to toughin up, until he is ultimately dragged down by the monsters into the ground. I think he goes out heroically guns blasting.

One of his last good spoken lines was when they found out Burke threw the face grabbers in the room to impregnate Ripley and Newt. He shoves a gun in his face: "You're dogmeat, pal!"
